How long does makeup such as mascara and lip stuff(tints,glosses) last after i have opened them?

i learned recently that on most make up and moisturizers! and stuff that u mentioned all have a little thing on the back of them its a sort of bowl with an open lid on it and a number like 12m or 6m or 8m!! this means that after opening this product it must be thrown away after the 12months or 6months or 8months! but if u share the products it shud be thrown away immediatley! so you're better off not sharing!How long does makeup such as mascara and lip stuff(tints,glosses) last after i have opened them?
The general rule is that if it smells funny or feels different or turns color, toss! Mascara should be replaced every 3 months do to bacteria and germ exposure when you take out the wand and is exposed to germs and then put back in. Lipstick is also exposed to bacteria in your mouth so it's convenient to replace it every 6 months. It doesnt matter how long the ';last';, but you must change them regulary.


Mascara should be thrown away after 6-7 months. Lipgloss should be thrown away after 9 months.
mascara needs to be changed every three months for sanitary reasons and four to six for lip products.

Actually today i noticed that one of my mascaras started smelling funny so i asked my mom if i should throw it away and she said yes





so for mascara if it has a strong weird smell to it...throw it away
mascara doesn't last more than 3 months. it starts go get sticky and chunky after that amount of time, and doesn't work as well.





as far as the rest of it (lip gloss, eye shadow, concealer, etc.)...it should all be thrown away after 6 months. bacteria can grow and give you an infection, and you should probably be getting some new colors after 6 months anyway. but yea, no more than 6 months.
From what I've heard it's 2 months or less for mascara. Not sure about lip gloss. I'd talk to the makeup artists at your local MAC or Clinique counter.
lip gloss, lipstick,and eye shadow can last for a while i've had the same lipgloss and eyeshadow in my make-up box like for 1-2 years and its been open and i don't use them offten but there still good

Well they don't really ';go bad'; at all. But you should change the mascara about every 5-6 months just so your mascara doesn't carry any eye infections or something icky like that, But like lip gloss, unless you get sick or someone else does and you share, there really is no ';lasting'; to it. But mascara does matter with how long just because of health issues.
lipgloss lasts usully about a year w/o getting all gooky, but with mascara, u wont be so lucky. about 3 monts and it will dry up and get too thick to use.
Mascara should be tossed after about 3 months. I know, it sucks having to buy it that often, but because it's moist bacteria can grow easily in it and you might end up with an eye infection... As for other products, I don't go by a set number of months, I just keep an eye out for any changes in the texture (is it thicker than usual? toss it!) and smell (lipgloss tends to start smelling rancid after a while...).
